Veterinary ophthalmology consultation

• Remote examination of the face, skull, orbits, eyelids and eyes.
• Examination of the various ocular reflexes.
• Schirmer tear test.
• Intraocular pressure after instillation of an anaesthetic eye drop.
• Fluorescein test if necessary to check the integrity of the cornea and/or tear ducts.
• Examination using a slit lamp or biomicroscope to visualise the various structures of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, iris and lens at high magnification (up to X16).
• Direct and/or indirect ophthalmoscopy, generally after dilating the pupil with eye drops, enables the lens, vitreous and retina to be examined.
• Once these tests have been carried out on your pet, a diagnosis can be made in the vast majority of cases. You will then be offered medical or surgical treatment.

However, additional examinations may be necessary, some of which are carried out under sedation or anaesthetic (gonioscopy, chromatic pupillometry, ocular and orbital ultrasound, electroretinogram, OCT, etc.).
